1/2  Sheraton Moana Surfrider

  • #24 Traveler & Leisure Top 25 Hotels

Known as the "First Lady of Waikiki," this circa 1901 oceanfront hotel has been restored to much of its original turn-of-the-century style. The grand columns of the porte cochere, the Palladian windows overlooking the ocean, the sweeping Banyan Veranda - all speak to the rich history. Historical artifacts are displayed throughout the hotel, and framed million-stitch Hawaiian floral quilts brighten the lobby. Modern facilities include an outdoor pool, a beauty salon, and a beachside café and bar. The Banyan Veranda serves afternoon high tea, sunset buffets, and Sunday brunches. Guests staying at any one of the four Sheraton Hotels in Waikiki can sign charges to their room for dining, shows, oceanfront bars, and entertainment options at any of the properties.

Harking back to the days of the Hawaii Calls radio program, which was broadcast from the hotel for 40 years, the hotel hosts a concert in the open-air Banyan Court every second Thursday of each month. Featured artists include Holunape, Pali, Makana, Marlene Sai—one of Hawaii’s most well-known entertainers, and Raiatea Helm—the 18-year-old singing sensation. There is no admission charge; appetizers and cocktails will be available for purchase.

As you might expect, all guest accommodations at The Sheraton Moana Surfrider are elegant, undeniably Hawaiian, and exceedingly comfortable. Modern comforts compliment traditional décor, further enhanced by luxurious details and tasteful amenities. Many rooms offer ocean views, and rooms in the historic Banyan Wing feature antique furnishings in oak, mahogany, and rare koa woods. Traditional Hawaiian quilts, custom furniture, and oceanfront lanai bring the warmth of old Hawai'i to our spacious suites.

Most guests come to The Sheraton Moana Surfrider to enjoy a peaceful retreat from the stresses of the everyday world, spending quite days poolside or in the serene resort spa. But rest assured, should you grow restless, unlimited excitement lies mere steps from our front door. World-class shopping, dining, and cultural entertainment surround you here. The beach itself offers limitless water sports and recreational activities, and many of Oahu’s most popular destinations are within walking distance of the hotel.
