Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

Poipu Beach, Kauai
Our ultimate "Hawaiian Classic" Kauai resort is ready to transport you back in time to the Kauai of the 1920s and 30s. This most luxurious of Kauai hotels just completed a multimillion-dollar renovation including newly refurbished oversized guestrooms and suites, updated meeting facilities and a complete renovation to the award-winning ANARA spas. To begin, a traditional lei welcome inspires your discovery and enjoyment of a culture at once timeless and timely.

This resort seems less like a single spot than a tropical isle created just for human pleasure. Arrayed on 50 naturally contoured, lavishly planted acres overlooking the blue Pacific, the 602-room resort is completely self-contained. Guests lounge in swimwear during the day and dress in resort wear—often purchased in the resort's shops—in the evenings. At night, guests are found listening to jazz while savoring cigars, swaying to Hawaiian music, dining under thatched-roof huts urrounded by water, or cuddling on secluded wood swings in the moonlight.

Some guests head for spiritual and physical rejuvenation at ANARA Spa, a $3.5 million facility with 11 treatment rooms, full-service beauty salon, relaxation lounge, sauna and steam rooms, and luxury spa suite for couples or friends who want to enjoy treatments together. Massages, manicures, and pedicures also are offered in oceanfront cabanas. Extensive fitness programs include yoga, water aerobics, meditation, Tai Chi, Pilates, and flexibility training.

Many others make their way to the world-renowned water park that includes a five-acre saltwater lagoon with beach, a 150-foot water slide, and a man-made river meandering from the hotel through exceptionally lush gardens and hidden grottos and under waterfalls to a freshwater lagoon pool.

This resort is home to ANARA Spa, a $3.5 million dollar facility offering signature exfoliating treatments, body treatments, specialty massage, and beauty services. Spa packages include everything from deluxe hair treatments to a "Day at Anara," where guests are pampered with a body polish or scrub, massage, facial, lunch, haircut or shampoo/style, pedicure or makeup application, and manicure. Fitness offerings include Tai Chi, yoga, Pilates, meditation, body sculpting, step aerobics, and "beach boot camp," featuring high-impact beach-and-ocean aerobics. The spa also houses a boutique with signature product offerings.

The resort offers many other amenities to its guests. Camp Hyatt provides half-day, full-day, and evening sessions of Hawaii-centered activities for children. And the hotel's business center offers complete services, including computer rental and high-speed Internet access (surcharge). The concierge desk arranges every activity available on Kauai, including helicopter sightseeing flights along the spectacular Na Pali Coast, coastal and river-boat excursions, deep-sea fishing, and dining outside the resort.

Shipwreck Beach in front of the resort is for strong swimmers, boogie boarders, and surfers only, although anyone can enjoy walking its 500-yard length. For ocean swimming, Poipu Beach, once declared by the world's foremost beach expert as America's best, is two miles west. The S-shaped beach's lower loop is protected by a man-made reef so the water is calm. The upper loop offers surfing and boogie-boarding. In between, there's great snorkeling among lava rocks around a small sand islet.

A unique and unforgettable golf experience awaits you in Kauai, one that will bring every aspect of your game into fresh and thrilling focus. The outstanding Poipu Bay golf course offers some exceptional amenities like an in-cart satellite navigation system that tells your exact distance to the hole and pin placement -- and a few slightly lower-tech amenities like an on-course beverage cart and refreshing cold towels. If you're looking to tune up your game while on your Kauai vacation, Poipu Bay's helpful golf pros offer daily clinics and video instruction.

Experience an era when life was gracious and unhurried.
