Peter Island Resort & Yacht Harbor

Full American Plan (all meals included, but not drinks)
With guests discouraged from bringing children under age 8 and no televisions in guestrooms and suites, the resort attracts adults seeking rest, relaxation, and privacy. In addition to its five beaches, the hilly island offers myriad points for viewing the sea and neighboring islands along a narrow road suitable for bicycling, walking, and touring by  complimentary shuttle. Resort wear dress (long pants, collared shirt, and closed-toe shoes for men) is expected in the lobby area. The room price is Full American Plan (FAP), with all meals (but not beverages) included.

Five beaches grace the resort. Crescent-shaped Deadman's Bay Beach extends about 1 mile and provides swimming, snorkeling, and water sports opportunities. Although all Virgin Island beaches are public, the resort steers day-visitors to Little Deadman's Bay Beach so resort guests have the larger beach to themselves. Tiny Honeymoon Beach offers intimacy and a single thatched-roof shade. Big Reef Bay Beach's 0.75-mile length is for beachcombing. Furnished with lounges and umbrellas, White Bay Beach is noted for snorkeling, turtle-watching, and privacy. For freshwater swimming, a freeform pool surrounded by cushioned lounge chairs lies between the lobby and the Caribbean.

A few chairs provide a spot to view sunsets 400 feet above sea level near the island's southernmost point. Complimentary shuttle service transports guests here, where they enjoy panoramic views not only of the setting sun but of the Caribbean, the U.S. Virgin Island of St. John, and Norman Island, where Robert Louis Stevenson located the action in Treasure Island. Spend a day on one of the smaller more secluded beaches with a picnic and snorkel gear or relax in your well appointed room or in the resort facilities, which are upgraded throughout the year. Also, keep your eye out for the rich and famous, which are known to rest here.

Location:  Peter Island, British Virgin Islands.

Amenities: Twice daily, the resort provides complimentary tours of Peter Island in a small truck fitted with open-air seats. The driver/guide provides commentary on the island's history, features, flora, and fauna. Complimentary roundtrip taxi and boat service to and from Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (servicing Beef Island/Tortola Island) also is provided.
For full relaxation and contemplation of the island's green hills and the turquoise-and-blue Caribbean Sea, the resort provides hammocks here and there and teak rocking chairs on a walkway along a rocky point facing Sir Francis Drake Channel between Peter Island and Tortola. Adjacent to the swimming pool outside the lobby building, a separate building houses a library furnished with upholstered seating and one of the island's two television sets with outside reception.

A health spa offers massage, facials, and body treatments such as Dead Sea Mud Body Wrap and Tropical Fruit Enzyme Scrub. Nail care and waxing is also available. Adjacent to the spa on Deadman's Beach, a fitness center contains a universal gym, free weights, cardio machines, and one of the resort's two televisions with outside reception.

Complimentary shuttle service for getting around the resort is available by telephone call. Bicycles are complimentary. A resort boat transports guests between Peter Island and Road Town, Tortola on a regular schedule daily. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, a boat travels to St. Thomas and on Thursdays to Virgin Gorda.
